Eligibility: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent is required.
Objective: The detailed objectives of this course are to develop highly competent cashiers. Participants will learn the end-to-end process of a cash transaction, from receiving payments and providing change to processing digital payments and issuing receipts. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of accuracy and efficiency in all transactions.

Module 1: Foundations of Cash Handling Introduction to the retail environment, Role and responsibilities of a cashier, Understanding currency (notes and coins), The importance of accuracy and integrity, Customer service excellence at the point of sale, Basic math and mental calculation skills, The sales process and the cashier’s role, Professional ethics and confidentiality, Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, Introduction to POS (Point of Sale) systems.
Module 2: Cash Handling Procedures Counting cash and verifying a cash drawer, Accepting different forms of payment (cash, credit/debit cards), Processing transactions and making change, Handling large currency and verifying authenticity, Cashing checks and money orders (if applicable), Managing till floats, Cash drops and safe handling procedures, Identifying counterfeit currency, Reconciliation of the cash drawer, End-of-day closing procedures.
Module 3: Point of Sale (POS) System Operations Introduction to POS software, Logging in and user authentication, Processing sales transactions, Applying discounts and promotions, Issuing receipts and invoices, Processing returns and refunds, Suspending and retrieving a sale, Managing loyalty program points, Basic troubleshooting of POS issues, Generating end-of-day reports.
