Course Id: CMLA/Q0001.
Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent.
Objective: The Certified Maritime Legal Advisor course is designed to equip participants with in-depth knowledge of maritime law, including international conventions, shipping contracts, marine insurance, environmental regulations, and dispute resolution mechanisms. The course covers key legal frameworks such as the Hague-Visby Rules, SOLAS, MARPOL, and UNCLOS, as well as topics like charter parties, bills of lading, salvage, collision, and admiralty law.
Duration: Three Month.
How to Enroll and Get Certified in Your Chosen Course:
Step 1: Choose the course you wish to get certified in.
Step 2: Click on the “Enroll Now” button.
Step 3: Proceed with the enrollment process.
Step 4: Enter your billing details and continue to course fee payment.
Step 5: You will be redirected to the payment gateway. Pay the course and exam fee using one of the following methods:
Debit/Credit Card, Wallet, Paytm, Net Banking, UPI, or Google Pay.
Step 6: After successful payment, you will receive your study material login ID and password via email within 48 hours of fee payment.
Step 7: Once you complete the course, take the online examination.
Step 8: Upon passing the examination, you will receive:
• A soft copy (scanned) of your certificate via email within 7 days of examination.
• A hard copy (original with official seal and signature) sent to your address within 45 day of declaration of result.
Step 9: After certification, you will be offered job opportunities aligned with your area of interest.

Duration- 60 minutes.
No. of Questions- 30. (Multiple Choice Questions).
Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 40%.

Module 1: Introduction to Maritime Law and Legal Framework: Overview of maritime law and its significance, Sources of maritime law: international conventions, national laws, and customary law, Key institutions and regulatory bodies (IMO, UNCLOS, ICS), Jurisdictional issues and dispute resolution, Roles and responsibilities of a Maritime Legal Advisor, Maritime terminology and documentation basics.
Module 2: Shipping Contracts and Commercial Law: Types of shipping contracts: charter parties, bills of lading, contracts of carriage, Sale and purchase agreements for vessels and cargo, Contract formation, performance, and breach, Liability and indemnity clauses, Dispute resolution mechanisms including arbitration and litigation.
Module 3: Maritime Claims and Liabilities: Types of maritime claims: cargo damage, collisions, salvage, and personal injury, Limitation of liability and protection mechanisms, Insurance and indemnity in maritime law, Claims handling and settlement procedures, Role of P&I clubs and maritime insurers, Legal procedures for maritime claims.
Module 4: Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Law: Compliance with international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS, STCW), Environmental protection laws and pollution control, Liability for marine pollution and damage, Enforcement mechanisms and penalties, Port state control and flag state responsibilities, Legal aspects of environmental incidents and claims.
Module 5: Admiralty Law and Maritime Security: Admiralty jurisdiction and court procedures, Arrest and detention of vessels, Maritime liens and mortgages, Piracy and maritime security laws, Security measures and compliance with ISPS Code, Legal implications of maritime terrorism and cyber threats.
Module 6: Legal Advisory Practice and Ethics: Drafting and reviewing maritime legal documents, Client counseling and risk management, Negotiation and dispute resolution skills, Ethics and professional responsibility in maritime law, Continuing legal education and certification requirements, Capstone project: prepare a legal advisory report for a complex maritime dispute involving contractual and environmental issues.
